French & Jupps are a family malting company and the only UK maltster specialising solely in the production and supply of high quality, fine roasted malts for both brewing and food production.

First question – who’s Paul? He’s not a person. We’re a family, the Pauls family. One of the oldest malting family businesses in the UK.

An old dog can’t learn new tricks? Wrong. Pauls Malt. That’s what. Yes we’re old. Yes we’ve been around since the 19th century. So what? Doesn’t mean we can’t have a kickass look and produce some of the best malted barley on the planet.

From our beginnings as a family business who were committed to bringing quality malt to Glasgow’s brewers, we’ve grown and developed into a trusted partner to many of the world’s leading brewers and distillers. 2023 marked 200 years of malting heritage for Bairds and the next exciting chapter of our malting story was the merger with Soufflet Malt in November 2023 to create Soufflet Bairds Malt Ltd. Across our 5 sites in the UK, we have recently completed three expansions and have in 2024 commenced a fourth expansion which make us the largest UK maltster in the UK.

Soufflet Malt UK is a manufacturer of malted barley and supply the brewing, food and distilling industry in the UK.
