Our keynote speaker is Dr Georg Houben, Deputy Head of the “Groundwater Resources” department of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources in Hannover. He specialises in hydraulics, deep hydrogeology and the impact of agriculture on groundwater quality.
He has authored a textbook “Water Well Rehabilitation and Construction” and has contributed 37 peer-reviewed papers to journals, as well as contributing to two further textbooks. It is sure to be a very interesting and informative talk.
Based on discussions with EHOs and Public Health England, Envireau Water has included a dedicated session at #BHUC2019 specifically for this sector. The 2018 amendment to the Private Water Supplies Regulations continues to cause problems, increasing the burden on regulators with respect to sampling and risk assessment. Feedback from the sector shows there are three main themes causing problems:
- What happens underground – geology and hydrogeology
- Water treatment systems – what they are and how they work
- Risk assessments – what is important and how to keep them sensible
Each issue will be covered by seasoned professionals working in the sector. The session will provide directly relevant information and training and provide ample opportunity for discussions and questions between delegates and presenters. This, coupled with the morning presentations open to all delegates, provides a full day of high-quality CPD. It will give delegates a thorough understanding of borehole investigations.
