Recyclable glass bottle washing machine installed at Azende in Ecuador

01
Azende Corporación has been a producer of aguardiente spirits in Ecuador since 1947.

Azende is led by Ricardo Leon (Second from right, with his son Juan first on the left, pictured with the new machine and two engineers) shown here after the installation and commissioning of the new washing machine capable of preparing 3,500 bottles per hour to serve the automatic bottling line.

The bottles are returned from bars for washing and re-using, saving on glass waste and costs. On average a bottle will do up to 50 trips before being lost or damaged.

The market for washing machines is exploding given the new awareness of the implications for the environment of one-way single use glass bottles.

It also makes a lot of economic sense when distribution of the products is locally with a direct distribution chain, so that bottles are recovered from the trade at no extra cost of transport.

In some countries washing of bottles is also encouraged by a voluntary or mandatory deposit scheme, or where glass is imported from far away or is limited by various supply contraints.

IC Filling Systems offers a complete range of washing machines for glass bottles from semi automatic at 400 bottles per hour, to 1,000 and 5,000 bph up to 80,000 bph.
