Last week, Renegade Brewery kindly hosted BFBi and some of its members for a brewery tour, where we were warmly welcomed by the brewery’s Managing Director, Martin Kelly.
Founded in 1995, the brewery has expanded over the years and were acquired by the Yattendon Group in 2021, before being re-born as Renegade in 2022.
One of the brewery’s priorities moving into 2024 is sustainability, with a commitment to lowering their carbon footprint over all aspects of the business. From using locally sourced products to generating renewable energy via their 1100 solar panels, Renegade is on a mission to improve on their environmental impact.
Martin explained that in an effort to maximise yield and minimise waste, the brewery is currently researching and developing their own wastewater treatment plant, so they can take control of their wastewater, contributing to their goal or lowering their carbon footprint.
Martin took us on a journey through the brewery, starting from production right through to their dual bottling/canning and packaging lines. As a contract brewer and packer, the brewery is capable of running up to 9,000 bottles or 12,000 cans per hour, as well as having the ability to fill keg, cask and mini kegs if required.
Renegade is truly a fantastic facility, in a unique rural location, that serves up independently brewed beer and great food in their Taproom kitchen. We want to thank Martin, Claire and the team for their hospitality and taking our members on a fantastic brewery tour.
