There is some confusion around the requirements for Gluten Testing. In order to clarify the issue, Murphy & Son confirms below the official stance from SALSA:
- Gluten testing must be conducted by a UKAS-accredited facility
- A process map and test results are required for every beer labelled as gluten-free
- Annual tests are required thereafter to confirm the batch is still within parameters OR
- If there are any changes (including variation of raw material like malt) then a fresh test is required
- Labelling requirements for beers needs to highlight allergens no-matter what the ABV is
As the UK’s leading test laboratory, Murphy & Son is supporting breweries this Winter by offering FREE gluten testing through their UKAS-accredited lab, with every purchase of DeHaze from now until Christmas.
They recommend brewers test every batch, as the negative repercussion of selling a beer labelled as gluten free which is above the max requirements to be classed as this to a customer who is coeliac, is not worth the negative PR risk.
Every DeHaze product has been labelled with a unique reference number which needs to be quoted when placing a gluten test order.
