BoxWay Packaging Group, the innovative, customer-focussed, design-led corrugated cardboard packaging business, is celebrating its achievement of a Five Star Best Practice Accreditation in the area of Health & Safety awarded at the Sheet Plant Association’s 109th Conference Event.
Innovative BoxWay Packaging Group Limited has secured the prestigious Certificate of Five Star Accreditation following an annual audit at its Exeter, Devon, site for its adherence to agreed best practice in the area of Health & Safety. The business received this recognition at the Sheet Plant Association’s (SPA) 109th Conference, which took place recently at Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Tewkesbury, Gloucester.
BoxWay Packaging Group was audited by Hereford-based SpringBoard Safety Services, an independent consultancy to the manufacturing, service and healthcare sectors. David Perry, Quality Health, Safety and Environmental Manager at BoxWay Packaging Group’s Exeter site comments: “I am delighted we have secured this prestigious Five Star Health and Safety Accreditation, which is fantastic testimony to the team’s dedication and consistent hard work to meet stringent audit guidelines set in all areas of Health and Safety in the workplace and the continuous improvement that was required to meet the rigorous environmental, health and safety prerequisites to comply with BSI standard 45001. We take Health and Safety extremely seriously in our cardboard factories given the potential dangers that may arise from working with sophisticated state-of-the-art, high-tech machinery and equipment and on the factory floor to ensure all staff comply with strict standards necessary to guarantee a safe working environment.
Mr. Perry continues: We were audited in areas such as manual handling, machine and electrical safety and Risk Assessment, for example and knowing we are performing to high standards via these rigorous audits, and scoring consistently top marks is very positive for our business.  BoxWay Packaging Group has been members of the Sheet Plant Association since June 2021 and has greatly benefited from its membership. The Association provides a forum where we can meet and discuss matters of common interest with companies engaged in this sector and can co-ordinate and pursue joint action in respect of matters affecting the corrugated packaging industry and the Sheet Plant sector; where we can promote the Corrugated Sheet Plant sector to existing and potential customers and encourage best practise amongst member companies and join training for industry specific skills and knowledge, as well as training for personal development for the employees of member companies. Being part of an Association, which offers co-operative working between member companies and enables us to co-operate with and exchange information with associations having similar aims and objectives, not only in the UK, but also in Europe and the USA are just a handful of benefits BoxWay Packaging Group highly values.”
