Ruth visited Tom Wood, Managing Director of glass packaging specialists, Rawlings. A family owned business, formed in 1850, Rawlings has a long history of glass packaging in the beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks and food industries.
Tom joined Rawlings in 2011, previously working as Programme Manager for Cathay Pacific. With a value chain brand offering which includes Aqua Bottles; Big Brown Carrier Bag Company; Glass Jars and Bottles.com; Rawlings Retail, Tom’s remit of developing Rawlings via a strategy of organic and acquisitional growth is on track, having added Compak in 2019 and, in 2022, Vigo to the portfolio.

With 80 people across three sites, Rawlings now has a sustainable model on which to deliver further growth within the glass packaging value chain. When asked what the future would deliver, Tom noted that he was planning for four divisions with a £50million turnover within the next three years.
