Ruth Evans visited Camilla Bridewell and Simon Pitts at Vigo’s premises, based at Dunkeswell Airfield, nr Honiton, Devon.
Founded in 1984 by Alex Hill, a cider maker of award-winning ciders, Vigo originally sold fruit presses for home use. Developing its potential to supply commercial producers, the commercial arm began trading as ‘Vigo Vineyard Supplies’. The company grew into a unit at Hemyock Industrial Estate, finally moving to Dunkeswell Aerodrome; changing its name to Vigo Limited and taking advantage of the space needed to build, modify and stock their wine, cider, brewing, spirits, cocktails, soft drink equipment and consumables.
The Many Hands Brew Co, located next door, is also run by Vigo, has a community focus and the ultimate aim to donate 10% of all net profits to charity.
Alex sold Vigo to Simon Pitts in 2017 and it is now newly merged with Rawlings Group, providing a synergistic opportunity (Rawlings supply glass bottles and bottle branding), helping to complete the Vigo offering.
Vigo supplies a comprehensive range of products, aimed predominantly at the “craft” sector – anything to do with package filling and processing, be it semi to fully automatic:
