Kegstar’s UK operation is urging breweries, publicans and punters alike to be upstanding for the nation’s voluntary sector.

The global smart stainless steel keg rental company is throwing its weight behind the ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ initiative, which is part of National Thank You Day on Sunday, July 4.

At 5pm, actor and broadcaster Ross Kemp will lead the charge from his local pub in London, encouraging everyone across Britain to raise a glass to the country’s volunteers.

The day was devised to celebrate the good deeds of millions of UK volunteers – particularly the army of people who have helped in their communities during the pandemic.

Celebrities including Gary Linekar, Bear Grylls, Felicity Kendal and Dame Judy Dench are joining Ross Kemp in backing the campaign, alongside more than 3,000 pubs and breweries. Over 16 million Brits are already planning to mark the day in their communities, according to a recent ICM poll.

In partnership with event organisers the Together Coalition and Royal Voluntary Service, The Good Beer Co has coordinated involvement within the brewing industry, including the creation of a ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ beer, which will be circulated to thousands of participating venues. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions will be available in participating venues.

James Bleakley, Kegstar’s general manager for UK & Europe, is urging as many people as possible to support the cause and join in local celebrations – or even organise an event themselves.

“After such a challenging year, we’re all desperate for something to celebrate. What better than to celebrate those amazing people who tirelessly volunteer to make our communities better, safer and healthier to live in?

“We all owe so much to our volunteers, so please get out there, raise a glass or two and say ‘cheers for volunteers’. And if you can’t find an event locally, why not gather your friends and family together on July 4 and join the rest of the nation?”

Kegstar’s supportive role in the campaign reflects the company’s overarching goal of delivering more great beverages to more happy drinkers. The keg firm joins names such as Punch Taverns, Adnams, Toast Ale and the British Beer and Pub Association in backing the event on July 4.

James Grugeon, founder of The Good Beer Co, said: “It’s brilliant that we can thank our hard-working volunteers and support our hard-hit pubs and breweries at the same time.

“It’s amazing to see so many breweries and pubs across the country coming on board to support ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ and show their gratitude to those who have helped us through the pandemic. We’re delighted that Kegstar is helping to endorse this fantastic event.”

Pubs and breweries are invited to sign up to the campaign and host their own events by visiting www.thegoodbeerco.co.uk/cheersforvolunteers, where they can download a ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ pack.
