Tour of the Lakes Distillery

5th October - commencing at 4.00 pm - flyer

Founded by Paul Currie, who co-founded the widely acclaimed, award winning Arran distillery, production is overseen by one of Scotland’s foremost whisky experts, Alan Rutherford, former production director at Diageo and council member of the Scotch Whisky Association.

A green distillery, biomass boilers, burning fuel from sustainable sources, are used for all heating and hot water on the site and the draff, or barley waste, from whisky production, is fed to local cattle.

The distillery has its own on-site sewerage plant and recycled water is used for cooling the plant. An oil boiler is used for the steam required for the distilling process, and a biomass boiler for all other heating requirements, including heating the buildings and offices.

Welsh Whisky Tour - Penderyn Distillery

19th October - commencing 4.00 pm - flyer

Penderyn Distillery produces award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits in the foothills of the magnificent Brecon Beacons in South Wales.

Producing their own malted barley spirit which, when matured, is recognised worldwide as one of the finest single malt whiskies., the majority of their spirit goes into casks for ageing in their cellars. The remainder is used to craft other spirits.

Whilst most Scottish and Irish distilleries use a conventional two or three-pot still system, the technology developed at Penderyn allows an extremely clean ‘flavourful’ spirit to be produced from a single still.

In 2014 a pair of Scottish-style ‘lantern’ stills were commissioned, which allow them to experiment with new whiskies.

A tour for up to 20 has been organised for 19th  October, 4pm.
