BFBi North of England & Scottish Section Cheque Presentation

This year’s Chairman Chris Bayliss, nominated The Ronald McDonald Children’s House at Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool as his chosen charity for 2016.

The House is run by an independent registered charity called The Alder Hey Family Trust.

The largest Ronald McDonald House in Europe and a proud symbol of our ongoing partnership with children's hospitals in the UK, the Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Children's Hospital can accommodate up to 84 families a night.

Originally opened in 1993, with just 26 rooms, the House has undergone two significant expansions and has welcomed over 16,000 families in its history. It now has a total of 69 family bedrooms as well as the extra provision of 15 family apartments for families that are due to stay for prolonged periods. The apartments sleep a family of four/five and are complete with lounge, bathroom and open plan kitchen and dining area - a real 'home away from home' for families that may stay at the House for more than six months.

In 2015, the House helped 1,458 families stay close to their children in hospital.

Our picture shows Chairman Chris handing over a cheque for £500.00 to Gill Wilson, Fund raising Organiser for the House.  We as a Section are proud to be supporters of this wonderful Charity.

North of England & Scottish Section Golf Day 2016

The Northern Section of the BFBi held their annual Golf Day at The Warrington Golf Club on Friday 13th May 2016.  Chairman, Chris Bayliss, welcomed 27 members and guests to a well-presented golf course on a beautiful warm and sunny day. This weather was in complete contrast to previous years when every player got drenched!

Teams from Alectia Ltd, Brefitt Ltd, City Dispense Services, Hallamshire Brewery Services, Klenzan, Murphy & Son Ltd, Parker Hannifin and Warrington Golf Club took part in the competitions.

As usual the competition was an individual Stableford with the Brewers and Traders competing for the Porteus Challenge Trophy, which the Traders were defending.
The fiercely contested yellow ball competition took place alongside the Stableford contest.  National Vice Chairman, Peter Lawley, Murphy & Son, and his team managed to complete the 18 holes with losing the yellow ball and had the best score.

This year the Brewers won the Porteus Trophy and was presented by the Chairman to Danny Payne from Heineken Tadcaster.

The Section would like to thank BFBi, Klenzan and Parker Hannifin for their generous sponsorship of the event.

Northern Section Golf Day – June 2015

The North of England & Scottish Section of the BFBi held their annual Golf day at Warrington Golf Club, Warrington, Cheshire on Friday 26th  June 2015.

Once again, the Porteus Challenge Cup, Brewers Versus Traders, was up for grabs with the Traders defending the Trophy.
Twenty-three players graced a well-prepared course which was a credit to the Course Manager and his team.  However, it would not be the BFBi at Warrington if the players did not get a drenching.  None of the weather forecasting experts predicted a heavy 40 minute downpour around 4.00 pm!!  Still that did not dampen the spirits of the golfers and some fine scores were recorded.

As usual, the dreaded Yellow Ball competition took place alongside the Stableford Competition, but only one team,  Parker Hannifin, managed to complete the course without losing the Yellow ball.

The Traders retained the Trophy with a convincing 168 points to 141 win over the Brewers.  Curtis Paxman received the Porteus Trophy on behalf of the Traders from the Captain of Warrington, Steve Collier.

The Section would like to thank the BFBi, Klenzan, Kieselmann UK and Parker Hannifin for their generous sponsorship of the event.
